In 2013 Chamonix added a new model–the very popular 45F-1–to the Chamonix 4x5 camera family. In 2017 Chamonix has introduced the 45F-2 which replaces the 45F-1.

The 45F-2 retains the innovations of the 45F-1, but now has an improved front standard having two knobs instead of a single knob on each side so that the photographer can separately control the rise/fall and the tilt movements.

The base and asymmetrical tilts of the rear standard are controlled by a single knob on the standard. It remains locked when not in use and when it is needed it can be unlocked with a simple twist of the fingers. This knob has a special pale gray coating to differentiate it from other knobs, making it easy to find and quickly add adjustments.

The design of 45F-2 camera retains the improvements of the 45F-1, such as the wider base and narrow top of the rear standard. This profile makes the control of the base and asymmetrical tilts highly visible. The design also increases the rigidity of the standard.

The 45F-2 camera has a special ground glass with four dotted lines. No matter which way the ground glass faces–in landscape or portrait orientation–an object placed on the dotted line on the ground glass will stay in focus as rear tilt is applied.

45F2 camera can be used with all of 45 accessories: extension board, folding and reflex viewers, leather jacket.

The main difference between 45F-2 and 45N2 cameras is the base and asymmetrical tilts of the rear standard. This feature makes the camera much easier to use when applying the Scheimpflug principle in compositions involving landscape and architecture photography.

The dimensions of the 45F-2 when folded are 208 x 182 x 92 mm (approx.8.2 x 7.2 x 3.6 in). The 45F-2 weighs 1600 g (3.52 lb).

The camera comes with a universal bellows in black and a Fresnel lens. Red bellows upon request. It also comes with a black carry bag.

The wood choices are teak and cherry. The top pictures on this page are 45F2 in teak and bottom ones are 45F2 in cherry. Teak wood is darker.
